The new season brings a fresh set of blooms.
I spent an afternoon at the Flower Patch, learning a few pointers to picking and arranging autumn flowers. Floral trends this season tend toward saturated tones, earthy accents and layers of texture. Here are a few things to keep in mind. When buying roses, stick to fuchsia and orange hues for a punch of color. Sunflowers make the perfect focal point of an arrangement–they like the attention that comes from being the largest flower in the bunch. And button poms, cattails or sprigs of wheat make fitting fillers for fall bouquets.
