Hair Care Secrets: Middle Parts

Middle parts . . .

I’m pretty sure Mary Kate & Ashley are to blame for my obsession with middle parts. It’s a look that feels casual and completely effortless. I’ve rounded up a few photos that are sure to inspire the inner cool-girl in all of us. Yes, we can totally pull it off, too.

From my research, I’ve discovered that middle parts fall into two camps. First up is the perfect line. This is done by separating your hair down the middle using a pic or a comb to evenly separate your hair. The second is a slightly disheveled, more natural approach. This less than perfect line is made by simply using your fingers to pull strands of hair to either side down the middle, starting at your forehead and ending at the crown. Here’s the breakdown:

Beachy Long Bob

Wind whipped and weekend ready, this style definitely falls into the natural part camp. All you need is a few minutes, wet hair, volumizing tonic and surf spray.

Parisian Long and Sleek

These three give me major hair envy. Between the long length, silky texture and unbelievable shine, this is a middle part scenario I can definitely get behind. Cue the smoothing oil and weekly deep conditioning treatment.

Long Locks with Fringe

Vintage inspired and Bardot-esque, this style screams modern day romance. And can we talk about these highlights plus the messy middle part? I’ll definitely have what she’s having.

Chin Length Bob

It’s the most modern of bunch, and I love the classic symmetrical length. Doesn’t it feel like an updated version of the mod bob from the ’60s? With a 1″ straightening iron, styling would be a breeze.

Ahn Co Tran Inspired Waves

I’ve gushed about my love of Ahn Co Tran waves before so it shouldn’t come as a surprise. You can get the look using this 1″ curling iron. At just $40, it’s a great price point and ideal for shoulder length hair.
